I must apologize in advance for the length of this post. You will not complain once you see all the yummy goodies to come. This is the Wedding of JD and Amy. I have been dying to write about this wedding. This sweet couple is from the Phoenix area and planned a destination wedding to Greer, AZ. I must say in advance that I am in love with this wedding and I would soooooooooo do this for my wedding if I had it to do over. If you only pull one idea from this post I will be surprised as you will probably walk away with many.
Here is a collage of just a few of the details. The brown stamped gift bags were filled with salt water taffy and given to each guest.
The bride hand made the flip flops with fabric flowers.
She hung her beautiful dress on a special hanger that spelled her new last name.
Flowers in mason jars hung from the chairs at the ceremony.
The heart broach that hangs from the bouquet was a special gift given to her grandmother by her grandfather just before he left for the war.
Amy made extra large hand made fabric flowers for headbands that the flower girls wore. She got the pattern from Martha Stuarts web site. The brooches in the center of the flowers were earrings that were given to her by JD's grandmother. The little flower girls were so cute....she could not stop looking at her beauty and walked around with the mirror for about an hour. LOL
Organization is high priority when planning a wedding. Love this tip......Take a shoe hanging rack from just about any store and put your bride emergency kit together. Hang over a door and you can see all the goodies. I may just do this for me here at home. What a great idea.
So as you can imagine the scenery here was AHHHHHHH-MAZING. Most of the upcoming pictures do not need words, just enjoy!!!
Here is a view of the ceremony site from across the lake.....Simply breathtaking
The Kiss!!!!!!!!!
Ok, now on to some of the most amazing details EVA. This is the signing board. Amy had a Tree with branches printed on a large white board. Then she had several different shades of green/yellow ink and sharpies. The guests would put their thumb prints on the branches and sign their name next to it. Is this not the greatest idea and amazing heirloom to pass along to your children.
The next detail is my next favorite detail of the day. Amy found this ornate frame at an antique store. She pained the frame to match her colors. Took out the existing painting out and painted the background with a chalk board paint. She then listed the seating chart for guest to find their seats.
Look at all these yummy yummy details. Mason jars, wild flowers, wooden numbers, vintage fabric table runners, old fashion candies and cookies. My creative juices are salivating.
I love the simplicity and elegance of the cake. It is a piece of Art.
When we do destination weddings, we will try our best to do a day after session. Jon and I scouted out two 100 year old barns to photograph at. When we arrived at the first location a storm was brewing. And it brewed and it brewed. It brewed so much that we had to take refuge inside and hold the doors shut so we were not tornadoed away.....LOL (I know that's not a word) So while we were waiting for the storm to pass, we grabbed this shot.
And when the storm passed we got this......
Are you hearing the song "Green Acres" in your head.
We headed back to Greer Lodge and were greeted by the Geese. Amy was afraid, but she pulled it off.
Do you see the hand painted sign that says Mr. and Mrs. Simon. Love the Details. It's the little things that make the impact.
Amy painted Thank you on wood she purchased at her local hardware store. She used these pictures in her thank you cards.
I really hope you enjoyed reading about this beautiful dream wedding.
Happy Planning !!!!!!!!!!!
